ABOUT US
Human Rights encompass the essential entitlements related to life, liberty, equality, and the dignity of individuals, both guaranteed by international covenants and enforceable through legal mechanisms in India. These rights form a crucial framework aimed at protecting and upholding the inherent value of every person.
The Human Rights Council of India (Protection of Human Rights) was established on February 16, 2012, with a commitment to serving the nation through a humanitarian approach devoid of personal interests. Operating as a non-governmental, non-political, and social organization, the council embarked on its enduring journey with the collaborative efforts of visionaries such as Chandra Sekhar Dey and Ramakant Pandit, individuals possessing profound experience in the realms of Human Rights Protection and Social Services. Commencing its activities in a modest office in Delhi, the Human Rights Council of India has expanded its reach and impact, currently operating in seven states and boasting more than 525 committees across blocks, subdivisions, and districts throughout the country.
Punjab State has been operating under the auspices of the Human Rights Council of India since 2015. The state has undertaken numerous initiatives to protect human rights within its region.
In the year 2023, the Human Rights Council of India authorized the extension of responsibility for Haryana State to the Secretary of the Punjab State Human Rights Council of India. The Secretary of the Punjab State took the initiative to establish the Human Rights Council of India (Punjab & Haryana).
